All University examinations scheduled to be held on 18-07-2009 are postponed-revised date will be announced later..

The Abu Dhabi Education system is currently seeing an education overhaul being led by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi who has been investing heavily in rebuilding the education system. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan added that he was prepared to spend heavily in putting it right in a bid to secure the future competitiveness of Abu Dhabi on the world stage and that starts with education.

Education choices used to be somewhat limited not offering many choices for an ex-pat family looking to secure the best education and schooling for their children. Thanks to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Abu Dhabi Education Authority this seems to be changing and changing rapidly.

There are more good schools that allow your child to maintain their education at the same facility with the same faculty members now. Work on the policy agenda follows the recent transfer of responsibilities for the education sector from the federal government to Abu Dhabi. As a result Abu Dhabi has seen a major investment by leading International Schools in the capital of the UAE. One of the first major companies to invest in Abu Dhabi’s education system was Nord Anglia Education. Nord Anglia can be described as a premium education brand, operating British International Schools in many countries from its base in the UK. They are building a state of the art British Curriculum School (BISAD) British International School Abu Dhabi that will offer state of the art facilities both in classroom and for extracurricular activities.

Increasingly in Abu Dhabi parents are securing their children educational placements based on British International Schooling standard. Expatriates in the region seem to be gravitating toward those establishments offering a sophisticated British International curriculum that include international GCSE and IB certification and away from traditional educational systems based on their country of origin. Many parents view the British International Curriculum as providing the best foundation for their children to go on to secure sought after college and university placements in the UK and USA after growing up in Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) wants Abu Dhabi to be recognized as a world class education system that supports all learners in reaching their full potential to compete in the global market. Its mission according to its website is to “produce world-class learners who embody a strong sense of culture and heritage and are prepared to meet global challenges”.

The future for education in the region is certainly upbeat, and with premium education brands moving into the region the choices of education may not only rival but even exceed education options that exist in the UK. Companies including are reporting very high pass rates within their international schools, Nord Anglia for example reported a 90% plus pass ratio for its IB examinations that children take after leaving high school.

With more expatriates choosing British based education system schools and the investment in the education sector in Abu Dhabi the future for Schools in Abu Dhabi is very bright indeed, which also seems to be the case for the students attending International Schools in the city.

With leading companies including Nord Anglia and K12 Investing heavily in “Premium Brand” international schools the future for the regions education system is upbeat. Places in the cities leading schools such as the British International School are available now but competition for places in just a few years is expected to be heavily contented. Abu Dhabi is the capital of the UAE and is positioned as the regional city of culture, as compared to its more glitzy neighbor Dubai, it’s expatriate workforce as a result tend to be well paid and normally enjoy education benefits allowance as part of their expatriate package. It seems as though when it comes to education in Abu Dhabi that the Education Department is doing well in attracting top international schools such as BISAD into its fold.
